[The feed clicks on and there's a beat or two of silence. Gene's still trying to wrap his mind around what exactly happened.
Honestly, he's thinking a lot about what Mickey said, about this place seeming like a bad acid trip.]
Anyone know why the lights are goin' on and off?
[Shouldn't things be going back to normal? They stopped whatever that creature was, hadn't they?]
[Friends Filter]
Everyone alright?
[He's especially worried about Jimmy and Snaf, but Scott and Isaac and everyone, too.]
[ooc: One friendly conversation rule applies, go nuts. c:]

He groans a little as he sits up] Long as you don't give yourself a stroke coming over here. Sure.

[That's all he says before heading off to find him something - Gene's still got a travel sized bottle of booze from Christmas that Snaf hasn't managed to drink yet, and he's not up for having any after this week - and a couple minutes later, there's a knock on Jimmy's door just to let him know Gene's here, and then he tries the doorknob, hoping it's unlocked so the inmate doesn't need to get up.]

Hey.
[spam]
Hey. [Gene steps inside and closes the door behind him, following Jimmy over and offering him the bottle. It's vodka, not enough to really do much to someone, but maybe it'll help take the edge off.] How're you feeling?
[It's almost nervously asked, like he knows it's not the right thing to say, but wanting to say something. It's not all that different from how he'd spoken to Sid's friend when he'd been hauled out of the hills on a stretcher with blank, haunted eyes.]

He takes the bottle, and before he sits down he takes out two glasses. It's not early enough in the day to drink (or, well, it definitely is, but he doesn't think so) but it's too early to drink straight from the bottle.]
Tired. Sick. What else is new, huh? [He gives Gene a sharp nod, and if he hasn't sat down yet he also nods at the chair across the table from him] How about you?
[spam]
Fine, [He says, mostly out of habit. He's not fine. He's kind of in shock, and now feeling way too much guilt for not being here when his friends needed a hand. Not that there was much he could have done here, if anything at all.] Tired of feelin' like there's not much I can really do when things like this happen.

Don't give me that crap. [His tone is surprisingly calm, considering what he just said.] Weren't you down there? With a fucking hellbeast?
[spam]
[But he'd been there, and done what he could. At least Cap got out in one piece, mostly.]

I mean there's not much a carbine and a side arm are gonna do against somethin' that's bigger than a house.
[He felt more like a liability than a team player, is what he means. It's hard to pull your weight when your target's that big, and even if he'd provided some covering fire, it still hadn't felt like enough. Gene's never felt so useless just being a normal human before.]
And I don't like knowin' you guys were in trouble and there wasn't anything I could do about it.

He leans over and smacks Gene on the side of his knee, once. It's not quite a pat, but it's close enough.]
Makes you wish you had some of those magic powers, huh?
[spam]
Definitely seem like they come in handy. Tryin' to keep up with Cap made me feel really outta shape.
[spam]
That guy makes everyone feel out of shape.
[spam]
Of course, he doesn't say any of that.]
You seen him in action?
[spam]
I wouldn't like to go up against him.

[Jimmy's got bad decision making skills sometimes, but he doesn't seem like he'd think yeah, sure, pissing off Steve Rogers is a really great plan.]
Re: [spam]
That one's gonna be easy to avoid, yeah.

Sorry for complain'.
[spam]
You have nothing to be sorry about, Gene.

Thank you, though.
